I
Writing tidbits
in insipid ink
in spring
sipping sin
idling wings
I think,
"Is this it? "

In Love's Embrace
She blew in from far northern shores
A breeze infused with laughter,
Thus eagerly my spirit soars
And greets my glorious daughter,
Across wide seas that span the globe,
Ten thousand miles she journeyed,
Just as the surgeon donned his robe
And twirled his knife, unhurried,
She held my hand when I was weak
When I, with drains lay drooping,
To lift my spirits she would seek
Till I with mirth was whooping,
They say my scars are healing fast
That I shall soon recover
In love’s embrace, scars from the past
Fade as fine mist forever.

The Fly Trap
We fly unfettered, free before
Sweet scents of life allure,
A taste of honey’s all we seek
Then find an open door.
The nectar here is unsurpassed,
This room of glass, so neat!
More than the food, there’s ambience
That folk believe they need.
We’re trapped until we breathe our last,
Fall heavily and sigh,
It’s far too late to realise
There is no exit sign.

A Sonnet
How do I thank Thee for Thy wondrous ways,
For gifts of caring family and friends?
For random pleasures and eternal grace,
And bounties from Thy vault that never ends?
Thou gavest me the will to rise each morn,
To hail the sun, the welkin and the leas,
Thou leadeth me when I am all forlorn,
I hear Thy voice in whispers of the breeze.
There’s but one way I can repay my debt -
To share Thy light with all I meet and greet,
Imperfect as I am, in woe beset,
In blessings of Thy love I am complete.
I thank Thee Lord for all the joy I've known
I thank Thee Lord, with Thee I’m not alone.

As Swift as Mind
In adoration of the Lord
He lives to serve, that’s his reward
He led his Prince to victory
Across the raging Lankan Sea
His trailing tail he set afire
He paved a path ‘cross straits so dire
Fierce fortresses of foes he fought
And saved his Princess, so distraught
He lives to serve, that’s his reward
He led his Prince to victory
Across the raging Lankan Sea
His trailing tail he set afire
He paved a path ‘cross straits so dire
Fierce fortresses of foes he fought
And saved his Princess, so distraught
Abounding in humility
His jaw deformed by injury
With mace and bow he’s simply dressed
With Ram and Sita, virtue blest
His jaw deformed by injury
With mace and bow he’s simply dressed
With Ram and Sita, virtue blest
His might moves mountains great and small
As swift as mind, his faith cures all
Protector of Humanity
To Hanuman may glory be!
As swift as mind, his faith cures all
Protector of Humanity
To Hanuman may glory be!

Morning Yoga
Inhale the sun, the morning blaze
We stand, bare feet upon our mats
More mellow than a twilight haze
Inhale the sun, the morning blaze
We close our eyes the body sways
Disturbed by noisy mental chats
Inhale the sun, the morning blaze
We stand, bare feet upon our mats
Inhale the moment, watch the flow
Of breath, we focus deep within
All burdens, cares and fears let go,
Inhale the moment, watch the flow
Of thoughts as they like waves will grow,
Exhale bygones and what has been,
Inhale the moment, watch the flow
Of breath, we focus deep within
Inhale good will, exhale all woe
The mind and body realign
Imbibe the warmth, enjoy its glow
Inhale good will, exhale all woe
Chakras we cleanse from head to toe
To face the day we prime the shrine
Inhale good will, exhale all woe
The mind and body realign

The Festival of Colour
Let’s don ourselves in vibrant hues,
In the land of silks and spices,
Let's paint the world in reds and blues,
It's the festival of color.
Come, dance the Bhangra - it's magic,
To cadence of the dhol and drums,
I’ll daub your skin with turmeric,
It's the festival of color.
Bring in the Bhang, a sip will do,
Let's drink beneath the vernal moon,
Then fly away to Timbuktu,
It's the festival of color.
Let's don ourselves in vibrant hues,
It's the festival of colour.
